Opening routes into higher education between India and South Africa, for students going each way.
A South African student who wants to study engineering in India, and an Indian student who wants to study medicine or mining at a South African university, run into the same wall: no one can tell them how. Which institutions recognise their qualifications, what the visa actually requires, which degree will be accepted when they go home again.
The Education Program exists to answer those questions and to build the institutional links that make them easier to answer next time. It works with students directly and with the universities on both ends, because a corridor that depends on one determined applicant at a time is not a corridor.
What it does
The work
Student guidance
Practical help for students applying to the other country: choosing institutions, understanding entry requirements, assembling an application and preparing for the move.
University partnerships
Building links between Indian and South African institutions, from memoranda of understanding to joint programmes and semester exchanges.
Recognition of qualifications
Clarity on how degrees and credits are assessed in each country, so a student knows before they enrol what their qualification will be worth at home.
Funding and scholarships
Signposting the bursaries, government schemes and institutional scholarships that already exist in both countries, and what each one actually asks for.
Faculty and research exchange
Connecting academics and research groups across the two systems, so the corridor carries teaching and research as well as students.
Alumni network
Keeping students who have made the crossing in touch with those about to, which is usually worth more than any brochure.
Both directions
It runs each way
Every INDSAF programme is bilateral by design. Neither country is the default origin.
India to South Africa
Indian students reaching South African universities, and Indian institutions building partnerships across a system with real strengths in mining, health and the earth sciences.
South Africa to India
South African students reaching one of the largest higher education systems in the world, with its depth in engineering, technology and medicine, at a cost that puts it within reach.
